The design of the 1933 series is inspired by the characteristic english lamp shades of the 1930’s. The opening in the neck, originally used to prevent the suspension from overheating, now adds value to the design as the shade can not only provide functional light but also produce aesthetic pleasing light.
The 1933 series has a long background. It was created during the time of British Industrial Revolution for use in lighting workshops, industries, mills, and farms. In the 1940s, it also gained wider application in government buildings, and later on, in the 1950s, it began to be used in hospitals with the establishment of the British National Health Service. This design is inspired by the British lampshade design of the 1930s and has an opening in the neck which has prevented overheating. Now these lampshades blends nicely with the functional light to produce a warm ambience.
