An Overview of Dyson's Lamp Collection
Solarcycle Morph
Dyson offers two primary design models in its lamp collection: desk lamps and floor lamps. These share the same sleek design, differing only in size. Both models are available in two colors—black and white/silver. While Dyson also produces blue/copper and black/copper options, these are often subject to stock issues.
Innovative Technology: Cooling Tube
You can forget the term "cooling tube technology" right away, but it’s precisely this feature that impresses us most about Dyson lamps. While these are undoubtedly smart lamps, complete with the expected range of high-tech gadgets (which we’ll discuss later), what truly stands out is Dyson’s use of proven space technology in their design.
And yes, we mean "cool" both literally and figuratively. With just a single drop of water inside a long copper tube, Dyson effectively cools the LEDs—because, contrary to popular belief, even LEDs generate heat over time. This advanced cooling system is the secret behind the remarkable 60-year lifespan of the six LEDs in each lamp.

Smart Sensors for Optimal Lighting
Dyson lamps are equipped with various sensors that monitor ambient light and daylight, allowing them to automatically adjust their brightness for the perfect lighting conditions.
Additionally, a motion sensor can be activated to enhance energy efficiency. Step away for a coffee break, and the lamp will turn off after five minutes of inactivity—only to seamlessly switch back on when you return. 😉
Operation
Dyson lamps can be operated on the lamp with touch buttons and sliders. It has an on and off button, a slider for the color of the light (warm white 2700 Kelvin to cool 6500 Kelvin) and a button for the motion sensor.
You indicate where you live and your age via the Dyson app with Bluetooth connection. This enables the lamp to provide the right amount of light at the right time. As you get older you need more light. You can also set your own preferences via a few preset functions.
Convenient USB-C Charger
Located at the base of the vertical arm, you’ll find a handy USB-C charger—perfect for powering your mobile phone or other devices. It’s a practical addition that makes Dyson lamps even more functional, especially for your desk setup.
Versatile and Adaptable Use
The Solarcycle Morph is impressively versatile. Its design allows the lamp to rotate on its base and move its arm freely, unhampered by the constraints of electrical wiring.
This lamp offers more than just functional and indirect lighting. When folded, it doubles as an atmospheric light source. Thanks to magnetism, the lamp securely attaches to the vertical arm, enabling precise adjustments for mood lighting.
While the magnetic connection could benefit from a bit more weight for a sturdier feel—it does come across as slightly delicate—it performs its function flawlessly. In our opinion, this minor critique is hardly a dealbreaker.
Conclusion
While the horizontal folding arm cannot be adjusted in height, this lamp shines with its exceptional versatility. The standout feature is undoubtedly the Morph function, which transitions the lamp into mood lighting mode with a simple fold. This innovative design element gives the lamp an undeniable X-factor, making it a striking conversation piece in any interior.
A General Observation
The Dyson lamps include a synchronization mode that adjusts the light to match the ambient environment continuously. However, after extended use, we opted to disable this feature. In the evening, the lamp in this mode provided less light than we preferred. For us, a slightly brighter and more consistent light level was the better choice.
Stock and Final Thoughts
In our experience, Dyson occasionally faces challenges with stock availability. As a result, we’ve chosen not to accept backorders to avoid potential delays for our customers.
That said, Dyson lamps are timeless in their design. The Morph, with its unique ambiance mode and luxurious appearance, is a piece we genuinely believe will captivate for decades to come. Additionally, these lamps offer exceptional adjustability in light color and intensity, both manually and via the app, making them highly functional. Dyson has perfected the essential features, ensuring that these lamps are a technological marvel designed to last for up to 60 years.
