Every new product launch is accompanied by the “necessary” superlatives and we try to look at it here in this blog with the much-needed Dutch sobriety. First of all, we briefly explain which types of Dyson lamps are available and then briefly zoom in on the technology and use. Don’t get us wrong. BINK has recently become a Dyson dealer and we earn our living by selling lamps. BINK has grown by stubbornly following our own taste in fixtures. Specialized in fixtures from the early 20th century, our focus is on timeless, versatile & functional designs. Our customers are people who like to delve deeper and purchase something that you will still be happy with 10 years from now. That is why we share our opinion for inspiration & information for like-minded people.
All Dyson lamps in a row
There are two model designs in Dyson lamps.
The desk lamps and the floor lamp share the same design and only differ in size.
Both models are available here in two colors. Black and silver/white. Dyson also offers the colors blue/copper & black/copper but we decided not to take these on (constant trouble with stock).
Dyson has also added a ceiling lamp to its range. This has been the best-selling B2B to date. The CU Beam is available in three variants (downlight, uplight & duolight). In this review we limit ourselves to the Solarcycle Morph.

Technology
Cooling tube technology
Forget this term immediately, but it is precisely this technology that we are most impressed by with Dyson lamps. Of course, Dysons are smart lamps and you can find the usual gadgets that come with a smart lamp (more about this later). But we think it’s downright COOL that Dyson applies proven space technology to a lamp. Both literally and figuratively (cool); With one drop of water in a long copper tube, Dyson cools the LEDs (yes, they also get warm over time). This cooling ensures the extremely long lifespan of 60 years for the six LEDs present.
Sensors
Various sensors monitor the ambient light & daylight so that the Dyson can adjust its own light accordingly.
You can also activate a motion sensor that ensures that the lamp turns off after 5 minutes when you leave and turns on when you return from your coffee break 😉
Operation
Dyson lamps can be operated on the lamp with touch buttons and sliders. It has an on and off button, a slider for the color of the light (warm white 2700 Kelvin to cool 6500 Kelvin) and a button for the motion sensor.
You indicate where you live and your age via the Dyson app with Bluetooth connection. This enables the lamp to provide the right amount of light at the right time. As you get older you need more light. You can also set your own preferences via a few preset functions.
Charger
At the bottom of the vertical arm is a USB-C charger for powering your mobile phone, for example. We think it’s always useful for your desk.
The use
The solar cycle Morph is optimal versatile. This lamp can rotate on its base and move its arm endlessly without the limitations of an electrical wire.
In addition to functional light and indirect light, this lamp can also provide atmospheric light in the folded position. Magnetism ensures that the lamp fits snugly onto the vertical arm, creating adjustable mood lighting. This could have been made a little heavier. It all feels and sounds a bit thin. But it works excellently, this complaint is negligible in our view.
Conclusion
Apart from the fact that the horizontal folding arm cannot be adjusted in height, this lamp is brilliantly versatile. Furthermore, the Morph function, where the lamp switches to mood lighting mode by folding the lamp, gives this design the X-factor in your interior. Undeniably a talking point for everyone who will see this lamp.
General point of criticism
There is a synchronization mode on these Dyson lamps so that the lamp continuously adapts to the ambient light. When we used this for a longer period of time, we decided to disable this function. Especially in the evening, the lamp in this position gave too little light for our taste. We prefer a little more & constant light.
Stock
Our experience is that Dyson has difficult with delivery from stock. In our experience Dyson regularly has problems with its stock. This is why we do not accept backorders
In our opinion, the Dysons lamps are timeless in terms of design. he Morph with the unique ambiance mode, whose luxurious appearance we seriously believe will continue to fascinate for many decades to come. Furthermore, the lamps can be adjusted extremely well in terms of light color and light intensity, both manually and with the app. This makes these lamps optimally functional. Dyson has arranged the most important functions incredibly well, so you will have a strong piece of technology for the next 60 years.
